Connor Bedard is making airwaves in the NHL once again as the league recognized his skills on March 23rd, which led to a nice goal against the Flyers.
The
Blackhawks defeated the Philadelphia Flyers on Sunday, March 23rd, 7-4 in a decisive victory.
The victory would come prior to John Tortorella's unceremonious firing from the organization, and one can't help but think
Connor Bedard the Hawks hastened that exit.
At 1:52 in 1st-period, Connor
Bedard would win a face-off against Flyers veteran Sean Courturier and gain possession of the puck. He'd hold onto it until he reached the top corner of the ice, and let a lethal shot loose against goalie
Ivan Fedotov.
He'd pot a goal against the russian goalie, tying the game 3-3.
The goal would earn him an accolade, making him the fifth Blackhawks player to open his NHL career with back-to-back 20-goal seasons in the league.
The shot itself was a beauty from between the circles and cleared the crease beautifully, beating Fedotov in spectacular fashion.
The Blackhawks would secure another win against the Flyers, who'd later fire John Tortorella after an altercation between him and defenseman
Cam York.
Ivan Fedotov would leave the ice that night, making 22 saves on 29 shots against, with a save percentage of .759.
While Bedard continues to prove his bona fides as a top-winger in the NHL, still developing and finally winning in the face-off circle.
In 74 games with the Blackhawks this season, Bedard has 58 points (20 goals, 38 assists) and could replicate his Calder Trophy-winning season with 61 points in 2023-2024.
The offensive wunderkind is still developing, and we have yet to see prime Bedard in the NHL and when we do, it'll be exciting.
