Chicago Blackhawks prospect Anton Frondell, who is with Djurgardens IF after being taken 2nd overall in the 2025 NHL Entry Draft, is on pace for a historic year in the SHL.

Even though they've been in the NHL's basement for the last several years, the Chicago Blackhawks have gotten several top-3 picks in the NHL Entry Draft out of them, most notably being Connor Bedard in 2023.
This year, they got the 3rd overall pick in the 2025 NHL Entry Draft and used it on forward Anton Frondell, who is playing with Djurgardens IF in the SHL.
Right now, he's on pace for a historic year after becoming the 2nd youngest player in SHL history to have a hat trick.
He's on pace to be compared with past Swedish SHL players who went on to have great NHL careers, like Daniel Sedin and Peter Forsberg. He's on pace for 47 points, which would break Sedin's record of 42 in 1998-99 as the highest-scoring U19 player in the SHL.
He's still on the other side of the world playing, but it likely won't be long before he starts his NHL career in Chicago.

The Blackhawks took Anton Frondell with the 3rd overall pick in the 2025 NHL Entry Draft

Frondell was Chicago's 3rd straight top-3 pick in the NHL Entry Draft after Connor Bedard and Artyom Levshunov.
Frondell's scouting report via Elite Prospects makes note of his separation abilities:
"Frondell's separating skill is his ability to get open away from the puck combined with high-end shooting talent. He gets off the wall and beats defencemen for rebounds and deflections, pushing the pace away from the puck, but also slowing down or dropping to the high slot when it's the right course of action."

-Elite Prospects

So far this year, he has 8 points (6G, 2A) in 9 games in the SHL.
