GM Kyle Davidson, Chicago Blackhawks will select 3rd overall in the 2025 NHL Draft, which takes place in Los Angeles' Peacock Theater.

The Chicago Blackhawks will be selecting 3rd overall in the 2025 NHL Draft. Which means they still have an excellent choice of talent available.
But up until June, GM Kyle Davidson and the front office will still have many discussions about what kind of players they value this season.
With the youth movement in full-force, the Blackhawks path may be different than in 2024. That year they selected defenseman Artyom Levshunov 2nd overall. A defenseman who made his NHL debut near the end of the season.
According to DailyFaceOff, the Chicago Blackhawks could luck into Porter Martone, who plays for the OHL's Brampton Steelheads.
Just listen to how DailyFaceOff described him:
The team doesn't have many hard-hitting offensive threats and he'd be a great future top-six winger. He's got an excellent combination of skill, size and power, and he's equally dangerous as a shooter and a passer. He's not your typical power forward player, and that's because he can beat guys with pure skill.

He's a perfect kind of addition, as they already have prospects who could offer strength, and two-way play with AJ Spellacy. But Martone comes with a swiss army knife set of skills, a complete two-way forward.
The Blackhawks could still find a way to add to their defensive depth without picking Matthew Schaefer, who appears to be the #1 overall consensus pick this year.
But it may have to be someone different in 2025.
For GM Kyle Davidson, he'll have the chance to add Porter Martone or Anton Frondell, who doesn't appear to be the consensus 3rd overall pick.
Both Tankathon and DailyFaceOff have Frondell dropping to 5th, while the Utah Hockey Club is projected to pick James Hagens, the Boston College Center.
«I thought it was kind of exciting. The last couple years haven't been necessarily like chalk, but teams close to the top of the odds have moved up or stayed the same, so it was kind of exciting from that standpoint.

Third overall, we're going to get a great player. I'm excited to head into meetings next week with our amateur group and start the process of nailing down where we want to line up the board and what it looks like. We stayed in good range where I think we're going to be really excited with what we end up with.»
Martone scored 98 points (37 goals, 61 assists) in 57 games with the OHL's Brampston Steelheads.
