One of the NHL's greatest veteran plays is nearing an emotional career ending. At the end of the 2024-25 NHL season, Pat Maroon has decided that he will hang up his skates, meaning he has 11 games left to soak in time with the Chicago Blackhawks before retiring.

In his latest comments, Maroon shared that he will miss the atmosphere in the Chicago Blackhawks' locker room while holding back tears.
While being interview by Blackhawks reporter Phillip Thompson following a 7-4 win against the Flyers, Maroon made a heartfelt revelation to the media.
«One thing I'm going to miss is the camaraderie with the guys, the banter in the room and the grind with the guys, the ups and downs, the highs and lows, and the process of doing all that stuff with everyone.»
During the game against Philadelphia, the Blackhawks managed to snap their seven-game losing streak, and Pat Maroon contributed to it with a big goal against his former team.
«I almost missed it. Thank God I scored.» It was his first goal since November 23, 2024.
In Maroon's unexpected retirement announcement on Saturday, the three-time Stanley Cup Champion revealed his reason behind leaving the game he loves.
"Sometimes you've got to give up everything you know and everything you dreamed of your whole life," Maroon said. "I just know it's time for me, time for my family to start a new chapter in our lives."
The St. Louis Blues showed their love for the former member of their organization by naming him the first star of the game. Maroon got to skate a lap around Enterprise Center one last time while receiving a standing ovation.
