The Blues deserve a round of applause for an amazing gesture towards Chicago Blackhawks forward Pat Maroon, as he played his final NHL game in St. Louis Saturday night.

36-year old forward Pat Maroon unexpectedly announced his retirement date from the NHL before the Chicago Blackhawks faced off against the St. Louis Blues on Saturday night in an interview.
"Sometimes you've got to give up everything you know and everything you dreamed of your whole life," Maroon said. "I just know it's time for me, time for my family to start a new chapter in our lives."
Said Maroon
Maroon then got choked up when speaking on his retirement, which will come at the end of this NHL season.
"I'm just going to finish this year like every game is my last game, you know, I'm going to play as hard as I can,"
he said
The three-time Stanley Cup winner turned a typical regular season game into an emotional one, as he announced it was one of his last, but it didn't end there.

Blues honour Pat Maroon

The Blues took note of his emotional announcement, and decided to do a very classy move for the NHL veteran.
Maroon was awarded the player of the game by the St. Louis Blues, to allow Maroon to come out in front of an electric packed arena, and to soak in his final moment at Enterprise Center.
One of his three Stanley Cup wins came with the St. Louis Blues in 2019 after they decided to give him a chance, inking him to a contract during NHL free agency.
Kudos to the Blues' organization for this incredibly classy move, and an unforgettable one for Pat Maroon as he plays his final games before retirement.
