JJ Peterka acquired by the Chicago Blackhawks: A huge offer was just made and Buffalo can't refuse it

The Buffalo Sabres and forward
JJ Peterka are destined for a split. That could come by way of a trade or offer sheet, depending on how bold an organization is.
For the Chicago Blackhawks, they have already tried to pry the German forward from his unhappiness with the Sabres organization.
In order to start the discussion, they have thrown in the 3rd overall pick draft pick in the 2025 NHL Draft in a one for one deal for Peterka.
A chance for Kevyn Adams to select an elite winger or center available. That could range from
Anton Frondell to
James Hagens, depending on who falls to the 3rd pick.
If you've read opinion columns that are buzzing around the internet, the AAV for JJ Peterka's next deal or offer sheet could be upwards of $7-7.5 million.
$6,871,375 to $9,161,834 :
2026 1st round pick
2026 2nd round pick
2026 3rd round pick
So it looks like the Buffalo Sabres might be asking a steeper price for the forward who has yet to hit his prime in the NHL, as the 3rd overall pick from Chicago has yet to be accepted.
Last season, Peterka scored 68 points (27-41) and could be placed on
Connor Bedard's wing in order to jumpstart the offense. Maybe even push them into a wild card spot next year?
Given how well the Flames did this season, the competitiveness on the roster is here, but the offense isn't to back it up, and Peterka could be that solution.
But the question is, do you wanna really give up three draft picks for someone like Peterka?
It's an expensive answer, but that is the price of winning in the NHL. Look at any contending NHL teams' salary cap space, draft picks, and prospect pools. They're picked dry due to the fact that teams like the
Vegas Golden Knights spend, spend, and spend.
