Current Blackhawks forward Connor Bedard has tied former Blackhawks forward Patrick Kane in another historic category of franchise milestones.
The Chicago Blackhawks could very well have the next budding star on their hands with Connor Bedard, who was taken with the 1st overall pick in the 2023 NHL Entry Draft.
Bedard had 3 points (1G, 2A) in today's 5-1 win over the former divisional foe Detroit Red Wings, who now have Kane on their side of the rivalry.
Connor Bedard's Contract Still Needs To Be Taken Care Of
One of the most pressing issues facing the Chicago Blackhawks right now is Bedard's contract status, as he's not signed beyond this current year.
Right now, there doesn't appear to have been much progress on either side on getting a new deal done, and it has been speculated that the holdup is over the length of the deal rather than the total money.
Speaking at the NHL/NHLPA North American Player Media Tour in September, Bedard said he wasn't in a hurry for a new deal and that he's comfortable where he is right now.
"It's nothing crazy. We're both comfortable with where we're at. They know I want to be there; I know they want me. So, it's really not on my mind that much, and I just think when it happens, it'll happen."
The Blackhawks are off to a much better start this year with an 8-5-3 record, and Bedard has been a major part of it.
