Breaking news in Hawks Nation as top prospect Sacha Boisvert has enetered the transfer portal, making it clear that he wants to leave the University of North Dakota and transfer to a new school.
Well -- it's official. Top prospect Sacha Boisvert is now in the NCAA transfer portal and will be switching universities.
While fans in Hawks Nation were excited about Boisvert potentially signing his ELC (entry level contract) to join the team as early as next season, Boisvert has declined, opting out by continuing his development at the college level.
Sacha Boisvert hits the transfer portal
It's no secret that Sacha Boisvert has emerged as one of the top prospects in college hockey.
Although the Chicago Blackhawks are facing another season without the playoffs, fans have plenty to be excited about, as the team's current talent pool is arguably one of the best in the NHL.
If history has told us one thing, it's that rushing a player to the big leagues usually results in a disaster.
While Boisvert has shown the maturity and skill of an NHL calibre player, it's probably for the best that he continues his studies and development at the college level for the time being.
Boisvert was a total stud for the University of North Dakota this season. The young forward was named the NCHC Rookie of the Year, tallying 18 goals and 32 points in just 37 games -- impressive, to say the least.
It should be really interesting to see where Boisvert ends up signing, and one can only assume the Chicago Blackhawks will have a strong say in the final decision.
Following the 2024 NHL draft, a prominent scout had this to say about his game:
«Scouts like the way the 18-year-old improved his skating as the season went on, further improving his 200-foot game. With Bedard,
Oliver Moore (2023, No. 19) and
Frank Nazar (2022, No. 13) the Blackhawks have stockpiled high-skill centers; Boisvert (6-2, 183) brings a bit more size and a 200-foot game to go along with the skill that saw him total 68 points (36 goals, 32 assists) in 61 games this season.»
Although Hawks' fans won't get to see him play at the NHL level next season, it should be fascinating to see what he can do next season at the college level.
