The Chicago Blackhawks are in the works of a blockbuster draft day trade, according to a recent report from an NHL insider.
Now that the Blackhawks have confirmed their draft party date in a surprise press release, how about a big trade for their fans to experience?
According to insider Frank Seravalli, the Blackhawks are opening the floodgates and are actively open to trading their third overall selection in the 2025 NHL draft.
«You've got to draft well and develop well, and that's got to be the core of your team moving forward.» He added, «You're playing fantasy hockey if you think you can just make things happen on a whim.»
General manager Kyle Davidson remains committed to the long-term development of the organization but is quite appealed to the opportunity to do what's best to get the Blackhawks back to their winning ways.
«There's no magic bullet to this. You acquire the talent, you develop the talent, and then you try to add along the way.»
The Blackhawks have an overwhelming prospect pool of promising youth, and while a third overall selection would grant them more talent, Connor Bedard's in need of support immediately.
Trading the third overall selection for NHL ready and proven talent, such as trade chip Jason Robertson of the Dallas Stars, would be greatly beneficial for any organization, but more would certainly have to be packed to acquire such a high draft positioning.
