The Chicago Blackhawks signed one of their biggest free agents, so what are the next steps for Kyle Davidson and the rest of the organization?

The team shared a press release to announce the news yesterday:
"Ryan brings energy and competes hard every game, which has been a huge asset to our team over the last two seasons. He's been a crucial part of our offense, and we're excited for Ryan to continue to make a difference in our lineup for the next four years."
But the signing is just the beginning.
According to reports, Chicago is not done making noise. The Blackhawks are actively seeking to trade some of their most valuable assets over the coming months, and it's turning heads around the league.
With just one playoff appearance in the past eight years and failing to hit 30 wins in each of their last five seasons, the message is clear: the rebuild is going into acceleration mode.
Chicago recently got the third overall pick in the 2025 NHL Entry Draft. While most teams would eagerly hold onto such a high pick, trusted insider Frank Seravalli revealed on the DFO Rundown that the team could be interested in trading it:
"The Blackhawks' 3rd overall pick is in play; looking to trade for a difference-maker. I don't think they are going to be out spending crazy money, but I do think that they want to be really active on the trade market."
It's clear the Blackhawks are looking for a major return, possibly an established top-line forward or elite defenseman, to help the younger players reach the next step in their development.
