Corey Perry's fate in the NHL and with the Edmonton Oilers has just been confirmed
40-year old NHL veteran Corey Perry's playing career has been decided after losing his 5th Stanley Cup Final within the past 6 years.
Quickly glancing at his production this past season, he has certainly earned himself a nice pay day in free agency this summer.
Perry is an unrestricted free agent, and the Oilers must act fast to secure a contract before teams begin calling him when free agency opens on July 1st.
Corey Perry's priority revealed by NHL insider Frank Seravalli
According to Daily Faceoff's Frank Seravalli, Perry has made his priority clear, he wants to stay with the Edmonton Oilers.
Even with Hyman in the lineup, Perry still found himself in the top six once the playoffs came around.
In 22 playoff games he put up 10 goals and 14 points in 22 playoff games, in what was his fifth Stanley Cup Finals appearance throughout the past six years.
2020: Lost in the Cup Final
2021: Lost in the Cup Final
2022: Lost in the Cup Final
2023: Lost in 1st round (to TOR)
2024: Lost in the Cup Final
2025: Lost in the Cup Final
Many believe Perry's aging has been noticeably showing through his slow foot speed, but that has always been his weaker attribute throughout his career. He has been with Edmonton now for two straight seasons and seems to find deepened playoff success wherever he goes, but the job hasn't been finished since his last Stanley Cup win in 2007 with the Anaheim Ducks.
