Blackhawks' Connor Bedard receives first 10-minute misconduct of his career against Sharks
19-year old Connor Bedard's sophomore season has been quite frustrating, and it was evident on Thursday night against the last-place San Jose Sharks.
Bedard received his first ever 10-minute misconduct of his career in the third period of the Blackhawks'
4-2 loss to the Sharks.
Bedard seemed very confused as to why he would be sent to the penalty box for 10 minutes, with only 10:51 on the clock remaining in the third period of a 3-2 game, down just one goal.
Bedard, head coach Anders Sorensen, and team reporters all voiced their frustrations after the game, and we still do not have a clear answer.
What Bedard said to officials to earn him a 10-minute misconduct
«I don't think it was too crazy, but he's the ref, so he gets to make that call. You don't really expect that, but it happens.» Said Bedard
The play in question for 'abuse of officials', which lead to Bedard being granted the misconduct can be seen below:
"He just didn't like what I said. ... I gotta be smarter with my words," Bedard said to reporters.
Blackhawks head coach Anders Sorensen stated he's heard worse, when asked on what Bedard said to spark the misconduct call from officials.
It appears the Bedard's misconduct came at the time of an angry Chris Rooney, according to an angry Chicago Blackhawks
reporter Mark Lazerus.
"Tonight's a good example of why referees should be made available to reporters. We should be able to get Chris Rooney's explanation for why Bedard got the 10-minute misconduct. But this being the NHL, we never will."
Bedard has spoke about this matter at morning practice:
