The NHL is mourning the loss of Claude Verret a former Buffalo Sabres player, and hockey coach for Mont-Sainte-Anne Secondary School for the last 15 years.
From there he'd join the
QMJHL where he'd find his game scoring 462 points during his junior career.
Claude Verret passed away at age 61
He suited up for the Sabres in 1983 and the 1984-85 season.
Building on what he'd learn in the QMJHL, AHL, and
NHL he'd find himself later as a successful ice hockey coach with the Mont-Sainte-Anne-Secondary School, where he'd have a positive impact on youth players who made their way through the school.
He'd successfully served in the role for the last fifteen years, and unfortunately, he'd pass away on March 12th, 2025.
During that time period, you can't help but think of all the lives Verret had impacted positively and gave hockey players at the school a good head start on their hopes and dreams of becoming future NHL stars.
Verret may not have been an NHL star himself, but had the know-how of what it takes to make it to the big leagues.
The amount of knowledge gone, as a result of his tragic passing is insurmountable.
As a result, many have lost their former role model, and mentor in Claude Verret as a result.
It was reported by the Vikings Hockey ESMSA page that Verret had passed away at the Michel-Sarrazin house.
Our deepest condolences to his family, friends, and the hockey players who crossed his path as a Viking hockey player.
Rest in peace to Claude Verret who found life after the NHL, and kept the beautiful sport in the hearts of many.
