Joel Quenneville Named As Head Coaching Candidate For Original Six NHL franchise
Depending on how good of a job Anders Sorensen does, he could stick with the role full-time.
But at this point, it seems that the front office may not be sold on the former IceHogs Head Coach.
They could open up a search during the postseason for a suitable replacement, after firing Head Coach Luke Richardson early in the year.
Quenneville name linked to Blackhawks organization
According to
Nestor Quixtan, Quenneville's name is being targeted as the organizations #1 head coaching candidate.
The
Blackhawks if they don't deem Sorensen worthy of a job could find a reunion with Coach Quenneville in order.
He helped win the team three Stanley Cups during his tenure here and was recently reinstated last July.
Quenneville's name would be in the news as different teams were said to be interested in the veteran coach, but nothing would materialize.
Coach Q has a winning history in
Chicago, as he was behind the bench for 797 games in the Windy City.
He'd win 452 of those, and deliver three-Stanley Cups with a team that was built by GM Dale Tallon, and perfected by Stan Bowman.
To most, it might be an idea that some people would turn their heads at, but when it comes to legitimacy as an NHL coach there's no higher standard than the one he has set.
Could the Chicago Blackhawks rehire former Coach Joel Quenneville? It depends on how bold GM Kyle Davidson wants to be.
