The Boston Bruins trade of Brad Marchand to the Florida Panthers will live in infamy for the rest of history, and we've found footage of how it all went down on the Bruins "Behind The B" series.
The "Behind The B" series is a show on YouTube that documents the Boston Bruins team during the postseason and in-season.
It's been running for 12 seasons, and is a similar style of documentary to the Blackhawks "Every Shift".
On the latest episode we got a behind-the-scenes look at the Bruins front office during the trade deadline.
The episode was aired last week and caught GM Don Sweeney in his moment of infamy he'll never live down.
The moment that caused the Bruins fans in TD Garden to chant "Fire Sweeney!".
If this scene was in a movie, the drama surrounding it would be Oscar-worthy as the chill spread throughout the room when Sweeney himself announced the deal.
Bruins management shocked as they trade Marchand to Florida
The room would fall silent, while someone would cry out "Jesus" while Sweeney tapped his finger on the desk in contemplation.
While we've seen scenarios this contrived before when the Tampa Bay Lightning sent Steven Stamkos to Nashville, we never got a front-row seat to the action like this video.
We have to respect the Bruins front-office for having the gall to put this out to the public, as it's been an unpopular move.
Marchand was traded to the Panthers for a meager conditional pick that was a 2027 2nd-round pick, which could turn into a 2028 1st-round pick, depending on how the Panthers do in the playoffs.
Of course, they need Marchand to help before they can upgrade the pick itself, and with Marchand out on injured reserve, we'll see how helpful he can be in the meantime.
But the human element of NHL trades always escapes our sights until footage like this is seen.
