NHL Insider has shocking news (not) about the Vegas Golden Knights, who are always beneficiaries of NHL largesse, as the team may look to exploit the LTIR to add another forward, in Mitch Marner.
The Vegas Golden Knights are one of Gary Bettman's favorite teams, considering how often they get away with exploiting the LTIR rules to their benefit.
Instead of keeping
Mark Stone on the LTIR until the playoffs roll around, they're looking to find a new way to exploit it.
Which is fortunate for the Golden Knights, as, according to NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman, they won't be able to hash out new rules until the new CBA in 2026-27.
For now, the Knights will continue to use it to their advantage as NHL Insider Elliotte Friedman details their plans with defenseman
Alex PietrangeloOn the latest 32 TP, they are looking to place Pietrangelo on the LTIR while he tries to improve his health after a troubling 2024-25 season.
Vegas and Tampa Bay have drawn ire from fans who rightly criticize both teams who exploiting the loopholes while they persist. NHL fans are incensed as they realize what this could mean for GM Kelly McCrimmon and the team.
They could, without a doubt, sign
Mitch Marner, giving them another skilled forward and a competitive advantage in the West.
Looking at PuckPedia, they have $9.615 M in cap space currently, and placing Alex Pietrangelo on LTIR gives them $18,415,000.
You can credit GM Kelly McCrimmon and the Knights for being resourceful, that's for sure.
