Jonathan Toews looks to make return to NHL with the Toronto Maple Leafs
It's been known for a while that Jonathan Toews has been aiming at a comeback to the NHL. Just a couple weeks ago, Daily Faceoff and CHSN personnel Frank Seravalli broke some news that he heard from Toews' camp that he plans to make a full return to the NHL, and even put him at #8 on his free agent board.
Unfortunately, it doesn't seem like there's any chance Toews will make a return to Chicago, as Kyle Davidson has been open without necessarily saying it that we've moved on from the
Patrick Kane and Toews era in the Windy City. So, that forces both sides to move on from one another.
Toews had an amazing career on the Blackhawks before his hiatus for his own health (which was undoubtedly the right decision), as he wore the «C» on his sweater proudly and represented it well, while winning three Stanley Cups and tallying over 1,000 points while playing over 1,000 games in a red sweater.
However, his time in a red sweater has come to an end, and it looks like things are pointing in the direction of him possibly wearing a blue sweater in the future, as odds are he will sign with the Toronto Maple Leafs over the summer.
The Maple Leafs need a shakeup; the current system they have isn't working. Toews will be a cheap addition because no one knows how he will do, and with how he ended things, he can't demand a lot of money.
Toews should sign with a contender to have a chance to win the championship one last time to make it four, so he'll be in the bottom-six no matter who he signs with, unless it's with a bottom team.
Either way, Toews will make a solid addition to the Maple Leafs, because he'll bring leadership, and being on a playoff team may even bring some of his game and confidence back.
