The sanctity of NHL traditions continues to be eroded by Gary Bettman, as news of the Hart Trophy winner was leaked, as it was revealed to be the Winnipeg Jets goalie Connor Hellebuyck.
If there's one thing Gary Bettman has done, it's drawn the ire of NHL fans from Canada to the United States. A uniting factor is his incompetence.
Today was another case of failed damage control, as the NHL's newest Hart Trophy winner was leaked, as Winnipeg Jets goalie
Connor Hellebuyck.
This could spell PR disaster if Gary Bettman and the NHL don't get ahead of the leak, which seems to be purely accidental.
I guess Bettman and company haven't heard of proper opsec and discipline, cause this seems like bad practice by the league and the photographer involved.
But that whole song and dance for the NHL Awards is weeks away, the night before the draft typically.
The suspense with the leak is gone, and the romanticism and intrigue are removed from the picture, as we'll have to cope with the fallout of unprofessional actors maintaining integrity in regards to the trophies.
Congrats, Connor Hellbuyck (though this isn't 100% confirmed).
No one questions his skills as the Jets goalie started 63 games this season, and left the 2024-2025 season with a 2.00 GAA and a .925 save percentage.
