Infectious Disease Outbreak at Original 6 Teams home arena, causing thousands to be at risk

Public health authorities have reported there has been a case of an infectious disease, measles, in attendance to the Montreal Canadiens game at their home-arena, the Bell Centre, on March 3.

On Monday, a public health notice was issued, revealing the individual was still contagious during their attendance to March 3 game, creating thousands exposed to this disease.

It was also released that the individual exposing this virus was in the red seats of the 111 to 117, as well as the Tim Hortons and Pizza Pizza, leaving several employees at risk.

All individuals that were in attendance on March 3 at the Bell Centre should monitor their symptoms until at least March 24.

Symptoms of measles may include; fever, cough, nasal congestion, red eyes, sensitivity to light, and rashes.

This information should not be taken lightly, as measles is an extremely contagious illness and begins to spread three to four days prior to any physical symptoms (rashing) and continues two to four days thereafter, with an average illness duration of one to two weeks after exposure.

The public health authorities ask all individuals present or who would be most vulnerable or likely to be exposed to this virus, to check their vaccination records.

If any symptoms occur for anyone in the Quebec region, please call the 811 number for guidance, and if needed, contact your nearest clinic or hospital upon arrival, to eliminate the risk of creating increased risks for individuals around.

Health authorities are also requesting all individuals to wear a mask if you happen to leave you house, and inform staff when attending the hospital or clinic.

Precautions and symptom awareness can prevent further transmission of the virus and is high required by public authorities.
