Former longtime Hockey Night in Canada host Don Cherry, who was infamously let go in 2019, is revealing what his wife thinks of former co-host Ron MacLean.
Former Hockey Night in Canada host Don Cherry was infamously let go from Sportsnet after his controversial "You people" comments, and many believe that he was not properly defended by his longtime co-host Ron MacLean.
Cherry, who recently wrapped up up his 'Grapevine' podcast after over 300 episodes, said that he was very disappointed in recent comments from MacLean that implied that his words in 2019 may have been part of an exit strategy.
It was MacLean who said Cherry routinely takes stances that were unpopular and that everything is a battle to him.
Don needed out, and the time was right. (Remembrance Day) was his last swing, taking a stance that's unpopular, but that feels good in his world. For Don, it's all a fight. It's all a battle. So he was happy and I'm happy for him.
You people ... that come here, whatever it is -- you love our way of life. You love our milk and honey. At least you can pay a couple bucks for a poppy or something like that. These guys paid for your way of life that you enjoy in Canada. These guys paid the biggest price for that.
