BREAKING: NHL, NHLPA and Blackhawks reach agreement on Corey Perry's Chicago contract termination
The NHL, NHLPA, and Chicago Blackhawks have come to an agreement regarding Corey Perry's contract termination. His contract was nullified on Nov. 29, after an internal investigation found that Perry had
"engaged in conduct that breaches the terms of his standard players' contract and the Blackhawks' internal policies designed to promote a professional and safe work environment.»
Perry had a meeting with commissioner Gary Bettman in early January and then joined the Edmonton team on Jan. 22 without filing a grievance.
While the specifics of the settlement are unknown, it's important to note that it cannot be used as a precedent in any future termination discussions. The players' association wanted to ensure that guaranteed contracts would be protected to the greatest extent possible
