The Arizona Coyotes are currently struggling to secure a permanent arena deal. They are running out of time to secure a new deal before the NHL relocates the team. The franchise missed the previously set deadline and now has limited time.

There are rumors that the Coyotes ownership group has an inside track to purchase a 95-acre plot of land. This location could be the key to securing the team's future in the desert. However, there are a few embarrassing catches.

The problem is that the location the Coyotes have selected does not have any utilities currently running to it. This means that sewage and water are not available at the location, making it difficult to gain zoning approval.

Furthermore, the location is prone to significant flooding, which is a significant concern for the franchise. Though rain is rare in Arizona, purchasing a location that floods is not ideal.

To make matters worse, it would take at least five years to prepare the location to host an NHL game. That means five more seasons at a college arena, which results in significant financial losses for the team each year.
