If the Blackhawks get a top 2 pick of this years draft they keep it, and are forced to draft this year. If they do not get a top 2 pick in this years lottery, Columbus gets to take their pick - and Chicago gets their first rounder in 2023.
Some speculation seems as if it is better to aim for next years draft where multiple names like Connor Bedard will be available to be selected, rather than draft throughout this years weak draft and not get a promised prospect as they may next year.
The draft takes place TODAY (may 10) at 6:30 EST.
