With the Stanley Cup Playoffs well out of reach, the Chicago Blackhawks are expected to be one of the busiest selling teams during this NHL trade season as they start the process of rebuilding the franchise in the midst of an 18-26-8 record through 52 games.
News out of practice this morning indicates that the Hawks are being very careful with at least two of their most valuable trade assets as a means of ensuring they stay healthy:
Fleury's name has been mentioned in trade rumors as much as any player in the League, however, he's made it clear that he only wants to leave Chicago if it's to go to a contending team.
De Haan is in the final year of a $4.55M AAV deal and is sure to land on another team looking for defensive depth on or before the March 21 NHL Trade Deadline. Friday's game against visiting New Jersey will be the veteran's 500th NHL game.
