Brandon Hagel addresses trade rumors in the funniest way possible
Chicago Blackhawks winger Brandon Hagel does not live under a rock. Of course he hears his name in the rumor mill, but he is doing his best to enjoy the season that he's having and he has a great sense of humor about the possibility of being traded at the deadline.
On Tuesday, Hagel met with the media in Chicago and gave his thoughts on being high on several teams' trade deadline wish lists. The 23-year-old seems relatively unphased by the whole situation.
"Seeing what [the Blackhawks] want for me, you've got to take that as a compliment, no? I mean, come on. I was a sixth-rounder they want that [type of a return]? I'll take that any day."
Hagel, a 6th round pick by the Buffalo Sabres back in 2016, is in his second full NHL season and has already surpassed his career highs in both goals and points with 14 and 27, respectively, through 46 games this season.
The Saskatoon, Saskatchewan native signed a 3-year deal with the Blackhawks last season, which will pay him just $1.5M per season through 2023-24. He's currently on pace for a 25-goal, 48-point season.
