Flyers lose an important player for the season
The Philadelphia Flyers have struggled mightily in 2021-22 after making several offseason moves that were expected to propel the team back into playoff contention. Unfortunately, the team is dead last in the Metropolitan Division and suffered another unfortunate loss on Friday.
According to the team, 29-year-old
Sean Couturier has been shut down for the remainder of this season after undergoing back surgery. The former 8th overall draft pick (2011) has been sidelined since December 30th.
Couturier, a former Selke Trophy winner (2019-20), has made it into just 29 games with Philly this season, and has not been himself in terms of production. He had just 6 goals and 17 points over that span this season.
Hopefully the dynamic center can rest and recover throughout the spring and summer and be good to go in time for training camp this fall. The Flyers could look very different come next season after a very disappointing year.
