Deeper Look into the Blackhawks' Newest Additions
Max Domi: Domi comes to the Blackhawks following stints with Arizona, Montreal, Columbus, and briefly Carolina. Domi was at his best from 2018-2020 when he was with Montreal where he put up 116 points in 153 games while being +17 in the +/- category. He had 28 goals and 44 assists in 2018-19, which are both career highs by decent margins. Domi comes to Chicago on a 1-year contract with the chance to play a lot and raise his worth for next year's free agency. Hopefully him and Connor Murphy can get past their issues:
Dylan Sikura: Sikura is set to begin his 2nd stint with the Blackhawks after leaving briefly for Vegas and Colorado where he had extremely limited playing time. He has 17 points (3 G, 14 A) in 58 career games, so he is hoping to take a huge jump forward on a Blackhawks team that is rebuilding. He is not projected to be a big part of the team just yet, but he is an injury or a string of good performances away from opening the door to more playing time.
Buddy Robinson: The 31-year old winger signed with the Blackhawks after playing this last season with Anaheim. He comes to the Blackhawks with an underwhelming 9 points in 53 games with a +4 in the +/- category.
Jack Johnson: Johnson is a 35-year old defensive veteran that has spent 16 years in the NHL. He has 312 points in 1,024 career games and a -114 +/-. He is a proven defenseman that has a history of being a dominant shot blocker and checker, but is not as savvy on the offensive side of the puck. He is coming off a season where he had 9 points in 74 games and a +5 +/- while earning a ring with Colorado.
Colin Blackwell: The 29-year old Blackwell comes to Chicago following a season where he split his time between Seattle and Toronto. He finished the season with 20 points in 58 games to bring his career totals to 52 points in 138 games played.
Andreas Anthanasiou: Anthanasiou is a 28-year old center that comes to Chicago with 196 points in 378 career games. He most recently played in LA for 2 years where he had 40 points in 75 games. He has an opportunity to be a prominent role player for the Blackhawks this year and he intends to take full advantage of it.
Petr Mrazek: The 30-year old Mrazek was traded to the Blackhawks, from Toronto, earlier this preseason. He brings with him a career .909 save percentage and 2.64 goals against average. His last time taking on the lead role was back in 2019-20, so there could be some rusty moments to begin the year.
Alex Stalock: The 35-year old Stalock is set to be the backup goalie behind Mrazek this season. He comes to the Blackhawks with a .908 career save percentage while giving up 2.64 goals per game. He has never really seen a starter role, so the backup role is something he could excel in with the Blackhawks this season as there is not much pressure on him to perform. The Blackhawks have two goalies who are extremely similar in the crease.
It is going to be a rough one for the Hawks this year, but every guy on the roster has a golden chance to make something happen for themselves. I am excited to see all of the new guys as we are extremely close to the start of the season.
