Ex-member of the Chicago Blackhawks organization makes a stunning real estate sale
Former Chicago Blackhawks President McDonough made a stunning real estate sale.
The 3,694-square-foot house featured three bedrooms, 4 1/2 bathrooms, and plenty of luxury details.
He originally purchased the home in 2021 through a land trust for just under $855,000. Since then, he has invested in numerous upgrades.
McDonough told Elite Street why he made the decision to sell:
"My grandkids are in Park Ridge, and I'm very active with them, and I just wanted to get closer.
I think Wheaton is a wonderful, wonderful community, and I enjoyed it. The downtown area is spectacular, the people couldn't have been nicer and the Loretto Club is a great place to live. The house sold quickly."
The home first hit the market in April for $1.049 million, but it didn't last long. McDonough went under contract in just six days, a reflection of both the strong market and the appeal of the house itself.
John McDonough built a reputation in Chicago sports as one of the city's most influential executives.
He spent 25 years with the Cubs and took over the Blackhawks in 2007. He restored television broadcasts, reconnected the team with its fan base, and turned the United Center into a sellout destination.
Most notably, under his watch the Blackhawks won three Stanley Cups in six years, cementing his legacy as an architect of winning culture.
Hopefully, Kyle Davidson and the new coaching staff will be able to bring the team back to success.
