Blackhawks won't be getting the return they wanted trading 26-year old forward away

The Chicago Blackhawks made a calculated move this season, acquiring Anthony Beauvillier from the Vancouver Canucks for a fifth-round pick.

Despite his past struggles, the Blackhawks saw potential in filling a gap in their forward lineup left by injuries. However, things haven't panned out as expected.

On the league's worst team, Beauvillier has found himself on the fourth line, struggling to make a significant impact. With just three goals and 11 points in 32 games, the winger's performance doesn't align with his $4.15 million AAV until the end of the season.

The Blackhawks may have envisioned a scenario where they could boost Beauvillier's value and potentially trade him by the deadline with cap retention.

However, the plan seems to face challenges as his on-ice contributions have been limited. With one goal and three points in 10 games on the fourth line, the return on investment may not meet expectations, making it uncertain if the Blackhawks can find a favorable trade deal.
