Blackhawks Goaltender Contributes to Chicago's Tank in His Debut
This was not a good look for the new Hawks goaltender.
Anton Khudobin was acquired from a trade involving the Dallas Stars and the Chicago Blackhawks. Not only did he have his Chicago debut Thursday night against the Washington Capitals, but he also played his first NHL game of he season, and things didn't necessarily go to well.
First, let's get some background. Anton Khudobin is 36 years old, the oldest goalie in the whole Blackhawks organization. He was a 7th round pick in the 2004 NHL Entry Draft and was selected by the Minnesota Wild. He then went to the Bruins, Hurricanes, Ducks, back to the Bruins, then the Stars, and now he finds himself here. After the game against the Capitals, Khudobin has a .786 SV% and a 6.00 GAA.
In this play, Anton tried to go out of his crease to play the puck, but lost it and gave up an empty net goal. You can watch below:
Anton Khudobin has been relieved of his starting duties, as Alex Stalock will take the start for Saturday's game against the Minnesota Wild at 5 pm EST.
