Several teams could capitalize on Blackhawks' latest waiver placement: He may be claimed
The Chicago Blackhawks' loss could be another team's gain, as they put forward Joey Anderson on waivers, and he can now be claimed by any of the other 31 teams.
It looks like the tenure of Chicago Blackhawks forward Joey Anderson could be coming to an end, as they
put him on waivers, where he's now eligible to be claimed by any other of the 31 NHL teams.
If he doesn't get claimed, he'll be sent to the American Hockey League affiliate Rockford IceHogs, where he'll have to continue playing.
This could be an interesting pickup for another team, as Anderson isn't without NHL experience, having played in 169 career games.
But because the Blackhawks placed him on waivers, it indicates that he likely doesn't fit into their long-term plans anymore.
From the time he was waived, he has 24 hours to be claimed by another team or otherwise be sent down.
Joey Anderson has almost 200 games of NHL experience
Anderson was taken with the 73rd overall pick in the 2016 NHL Entry Draft b y the New Jersey Devils while he was playing for the University of Minnesota-Duluth Bulldogs.
But he was traded to the Toronto Maple Leafs in October of 2020 forward Andreas Johnsson.
Eventually, he was once again traded, this time to the Chicago Blackhawks with Pavel Gogolev and two future 1st- and 2nd-round draft selections for
Jake McCabe,
Sam Lafferty, and 2 future conditional NHL Draft picks.
He spent last year playing with the IceHogs and had 27 points (17G, 10A) in 33 games.
Anderson has a total of 40 points (19G, 21A) in 169 career NHL games played with the Devils, Maple Leafs, and Blackhawks.
