Chicago Blackhawks' 3rd overall pick Anton Frondell stuns with Michigan goal for Djurgardens
The Chicago Blackhawks third overall pick Anton Frondell stunned the hockey world by scoring a Michigan goal in a game with Djurgardens.
The Chicago Blackhawks have obviously
drafted a gem in Anton Frondell. The Hawks' third overall pick in 2025 is expected to make the jump to the NHL after the season, with his contract in the Swedish Hockey League expiring in 2026.
The player's reputation for having a great two-way game has overshadowed his offensive skills, but make no mistake: the guy can score, and can be spectacular doing it.
Anton Frondell Scores Michigan Goal During Game
Djurgardens IF was in action today to face Rogle BK in the Swedish Hockey League.
Both teams are in a tight competition in the rankings. After eight games, Rogle has 14 points, and Djurgardens has 13.
Frondell had a big impact in the game, notably scoring a Michigan goal in the process to put his team on the board and reduce their deficit to one.
Blackhawks reporter Charlie Roumeliotis shared a video online. Check it out:
Scoring Michigan goals in practice is one thing, but doing it in a game is much harder. That play is easily readable, and timing doesn't often allow it.
Today was also the first game playing in the top six for Frondell, after playing in a third-line center role earlier in the season.
In seven games played so far this season, Frondell tallied three points, in a league where it's very hard to score goals.
It'll be interesting to see him build chemistry with Hawks players. He will certainly bring another dimension to the team's offense, and this new highlight reel suggests he could have a big impact.
