The Toronto Maple Leafs have locked up a key member of their core-four with a 4-year contract extension, confirming Mitch Marner's fate.
This now opens a large door for Marner to explore the Blackhawks in free agency.

This all but confirms Mitch Marners with the Maple Leafs, as they are now very short on funds.
With Marner coming off of a career-high point totalled season, this has officially slammed the door on his time in Toronto.

Marner is expected to earn anywhere between $10-16M some prominent NHL insiders have reported.
If things begin trending how they are, Marner could very well be a Blackhawk on July 1st.
