Mitch Marner makes a major free agency decision and he's set to get revenge on the Maple Leafs

The Toronto Maple Leafs and the core four could be no more when July 1st rolls around. Marner is set to test free agency, as neither he nor the team has signed a new deal as the year progressed.

Mitch Marner's career in Toronto appears to be over. According to NHL Insider Pierre LeBrun, the $10.9 million forward will test free agency in 2025.

Now, with July approaching us ever quickly, Marner has to narrow down where he'd like to go. And NHL Insider Pierre LeBrun has amassed quite a list of suitors for the 102-point forward.

Among those listed are some rivals, including the Detroit Red Wings and Florida Panthers who are in the Leafs' division, meaning Marner will get revenge on his former Maple Leafs if a signing comes to fruition. W

hile the scrappy, Chicago Blackhawks also have a spot on here, with almost $31 million in cap space.

If he were to defect to the Florida Panthers, that would be quite the storyline.

But his next contract may be too rich for a team like the Panthers, who are continually pressed against the cap. Due to the nature of contending teams, they need to utilize the majority of their cap space in order to acquire & maintain talent.

While he did help the Maple Leafs win the Atlantic Division title, in the exit interviews, he remained noncommittal to returning to Toronto in the fall.

Marner could benefit from a fresh start, as the core four have failed to deliver a Stanley Cup during their nine seasons together.

We all know Kyle Davidson has the chance to spend to the brim to acquire him, but it's a matter of will. Though they could find competition in other suitors, such as Detroit and Florida.
