The Blackhawks acquired a true number one goaltender from the Panthers

The Blackhawks look like they've found their main man in the crease thanks to the strong play of goaltender Spencer Knight since getting him from the Panthers.
One of the top factors behind the Blackhawks' postseason drought that dates back to 2020 has been their inability to find consistent goaltending, but they believe they've gone a long way toward solving that issue.
Goaltender Spencer Knight, since he arrived from the Florida Panthers in the Seth Jones trade last year, has performed about as well as anyone could have asked from him.
Right now, he leads NHL goalies in goals saved above expected:
Petr Mrazek had been the starter for the Blackhawks for nearly 2 years before he was sent back to the former divisional foe Detroit Red Wings in March, while the Blackhawks acquired Knight from Florida.
They also re-signed RFA goalie Arvid Soderblom to a new deal, but they've felt strongly enough about Knight that they've kept him around too, signing him to a 3 year contract with an AAV (average annual value) of $5,833,333.
Spencer Knight could be the solution for the Blackhawks in net
Blackhawks GM Kyle Davidson, who acquired Knight from Florida and re-signed him to a 3 year contract, said that the team as a whole is looking forward to how he helps them moving forward.
After joining the team in March, Spencer quickly cemented himself as a crucial piece of our future. A talented, young goaltender, he brings athleticism, sound positioning and a calm demeanor to his game, and we're excited to watch Spencer continue to flourish in Chicago over the next four seasons.
So far this year, Knight has gone 3-2-1 with a 1.97 GAA.
