Chicago Blackhawks ultimately lose in Lukas Reichel trade with the Vancouver Canucks

The Blackhawks traded former 1st round pick Lukas Reichel to the Vancouver Canucks, ending what could have been with a talented player who just needed a change of scenery and didn't work out in Chicago.
The Chicago Blackhawks ended rumours of former 1st round draft pick Lukas Reichel potentially signing a new deal with the team when they traded him today to the Vancouver Canucks.
General Manager Patrik Allvin announced today that the #Canucks have acquired forward Lukas Reichel from the Chicago Blackhawks in exchange for a fourth-round pick in the 2027 NHL Entry Draft.
In return, the Blackhawks got a 4th round pick in the 2027 NHL Entry Draft. But it was truly a disappointing end to what looked like a promising career in Chicago with lots of potential.
The Blackhawks took Reichel with the 17th overall pick in the 2020 NHL Entry Draft while he was playing in his native Germany, and he later joined the AHL affiliate Rockford IceHogs in 2021-22 and had 57 points (21G, 36A) in 56 games.
Reichel never really realized his potential with the Blackhawks, as the most points he ever scored was 22 last year (8G, 14A) in 70 games played.
Lukas Reichel needed a change of scenery
Because Reichel never realized his potential with the Blackhawks, a change of scenery could prove beneficial for him.
It also helps the Canucks, who lost forward Nils Hoglander for several weeks with injury, leading GM Patrik Allvin to look at trade possibilities.

The Vancouver Canucks are believed to be looking for a middle-six forward to add to their roster due to winger Nils Hoglander missing the next eight-to-ten weeks because of an injury. Canucks GM Patrik Allvin has been exploring options, according to separate league sources, but it is unclear if a move is imminent.
So far this year with the Blackhawks, Reichel had 4 points (2G, 2A).
