Here's what the Chicago Blackhawks would have to give up if they were to acquire Sidney Crosby in a trade with the Pittsburgh Penguins.

Make no mistake, the Pittsburgh Penguins President of Hockey Operations Kyle Dubas won't trade away Sidney Crosby for a bad return.
Once he decides he wants to get traded, the team captain will be in a position to help the team for one last time, by bringing an interseting return to the organization.
Although Crosby will decide where he wants to go, he won't leave the team in a bad position, that's just who he is.
After being linked to the Montreal Canadiens by multiple reports over the past months, most analysts agree that it won't be cheap to get him on the trade market.
Some people went as far as suggesting the Canadiens would need to send Ivan Demidov to get Crosby, which will never happen of course.

Demidov Or Bedard For Sidney Crosby?

Considered as the top contender to win the Calder Trophy this year, Demidov is entering the 2025-26 season at the Montreal Canadiens' image: underrated.
Most fanbases don't realize how great of a player he is, and people suggesting the Habs would part ways with him haven't grasped his talent, the Montreal Canadiens' direction, and his value.
If the Blackhawks were to be interested in Crosby and wanted to make an offer to the Penguins with players of Demidov's caliber, they would need to send Connor Bedard.
This won't happen.
However, other offers will be considered by the Penguins. Teams on Crosby's list who offer packages involving other prospects and high draft picks will be heard.
If the Blackhawks were to make an offer with either Sam Rinzel, Artyom Levshunov, Frank Nazar, Oliver Moore, and draft picks, they could convince Kyle Davidson to ship Crosby to Chicago.
At 38 years old, Crosby remains one of the best players in the NHL, but he has two seasons left on his contract, and most likely less than five to his career.
It would be surprising to see him join a team far from Stanley Cup contention like the Blackhawks. That's why the Canadiens or the Colorado Avalanche would make much more sense.
