36-year old veteran forward
Patrick Kane is heading into the NHL offseason weighing his options, and a return to Chicago could very well be in play.
Just two months ago, Kane voiced his desire sign a contract extension to return to the Red Wings organization, and since, talks have slowed down.
Detroit Red Wings general manager Steve Yzerman expressed his interest in having Kane return, but with free agency opening in just four days time and no contract signed, what's the hold up?
Team reporter Max Bultman of The Athletic has revealed that the veteran forward Patrick Kane is "weighing his options" when it comes to his next career decision.
Patrick Kane potentially signing with the Chicago Blackhawks
With Kane weighing his options on his next career decision, the Blackhawks have to be back in the back of his mind.
At 36-years of age and a crucial hip resurfacing surgery last summer, what better way to spend the last few seasons of your career mentoring the future face of the Blackhawks franchise,
Connor Bedard?
There is also the aspect of Kane being very familiar with the city, as he and his family would have to settle into their fourth home (Chicago, New York, Detroit) if he decides to go elsewhere other than the Blackhawks and Red Wings.
With just a few days before July 1st free agency, we will learn Patrick Kane's future in the NHL.
Stay tuned at Hawksinsider to find out Kane's official decision moving forward.
