Former Chicago Blackhawks captain Jonathan Toews is revealing more insight into his forthcoming attempted comeback into the NHL and a decision on where he'll play could be coming soon.
Former Chicago Blackhawks captain Jonathan Toews has announced that he fully intends on returning to the NHL for what would be the 1st time since he last played a game in April 2023.
Toews, who has been hampered by effects of suffering Long COVID, won't be back with Chicago but could very well sign with a team like his hometown Winnipeg Jets or even the Toronto Maple Leafs.
A decision on where he'll play next year will reportedly be made by the start of the 2025 NHL Entry Draft, per the most recent report by David Pagnotta of The Fourth Period.
I'm not satisfied the way things ended in Chicago. It's not about proving anything. It's just that there's something left in the tank, and I want to explore that. I want to go have fun, have a blast, play with passion.
I want to be able to step away from the game having said that I've given it my all.
Not only did Toews suffer effects from Long COVID but was also diagnosed in 2021 with chronic immune response syndrome (CIRS) that caused him to miss every Chicago game in 2020-21.
