News has broken overnight from several prominent NHL insiders, including Sportsnet and TSN that the New York Rangers are trading away their longtime veteran forward Chris Kreider. Let's take a look at the trade details:

The 34-year old veteran, who tallied up his second-most points in a season in 2023-24, is heading to the NHL's Western Conference in exchange for a teams prospect, according to a report from Sportsnet.
Not only are the Rangers receiving a prospect in exchange for Kreider, who's being viewed as a cap dump, they are also receiving a second-round pick.

Anaheim Ducks are acquiring Kreider and his full salary in exchange for Carey Terrance, alongside a second round pick. According to Sportsnet.
Terrance was drafted 59th overall by the Ducks in 2023, and played a fourth-line role for Team USA in their recent World Junior Championship win.
''Sportsnet sources confirmed that more will be known about the deal Wednesday morning.

Terrance was a second-round pick of the Ducks in 2023. This past season, he scored 20 goals and 39 points over 45 games for the OHL's Erie Otters.

Kreider has been one of the NHL's most consistent goal scorers over his 13-year career with the Rangers.''

There is only 'a few hurdles' to clear before things are announced in just hours time, according to Frank Seravalli himself.

New York Rangers general manager Chris Drury sparked wild discussions this summer when revealing that hefty changes are incoming, sparking reports of Panarin leaving the Rangers, and the first domino to fall is Chris Kreider.
In the end, the New York Rangers free up $6.5M of cap space by sending their longtime leadership member to another conference, while receiving a small compensation in Terrance.
