Former Blackhawks forward Patrick Kane is telling a funny story about his ex-teammate, Artemi Panarin, who is now with the New York Rangers.
Former Chicago Blackhawks forward Patrick Kane formed one of the best on-ice connections with his now-ex teammate, Artemi Panarin.
Panarin was a rookie on the Blackhawks in 2015-16, just months after they'd won their 3rd Stanley Cup since 2010. And while Panarin would later be dealt to the Columbus Blue Jackets in 2017 in a controversial trade, the memories of Kane playing with Panarin will last for a long time.
"I had a funny story about Panarin. I would get on him a lot to start the season, and he said he would be up all night thinking about how he wanted to come in the next day and jack me in the face. I'd see him in the morning.
I'd be like, 'What's up, Breadman? He'd be like, 'A weight dropped off. "Hey, what's going on?" I feel like guys are more, especially nowadays, complimentary a little bit to the point where it throws me off a little bit.
Panarin was sent to the Columbus Blue Jackets in an ill-fated trade on the part of the Blackhawks, while Kane continued in his time with Chicago.
Kane was later moved to the New York Rangers, where he had a relatively forgettable time before undergoing hip surgery. He then chose to join the former divisional foe of the Blackhawks, the Red Wings.
Since then, he's decided to stick around with Detroit along with his former Blackhawks teammate, Alex DeBrincat.
