Chicago Blackhawks ink 2025 NHL draft 3rd overall pick Anton Frondell to entry-level contract

Anton Frondell was the 3rd overall pick in the 2025 NHL Draft by the Chicago Blackhawks. With comparisons to Sasha Barkov being made already, fans should be excited by his eventual arrival in the Windy City.

Ben Pope of the CST has reported that GM Kyle Davidson and the Chicago Blackhawks have signed Swedish Tank, Anton Frondell of the Djurgarden IF of the SHL, to an ELC.

Frondell will make $975K AAV at the beginning of his NHL career with the Blackhawks.

The term is for three years and will expire at the end of the 2027-28 NHL season per PuckPedia.

Frondell played for Djurgardens IF in the SHL last season and scored 25 points (11-14) in 29 games.

He'd play 16 games in the SHL playoffs and tally 7 points (3-4) in that time frame, proving he's not just a regular-season hockey player.

The 6-foot-1, 198-pound center has played a total of 38 games in the SHL with Djurgårdens and scored a total of 26 points (11-15) between the 2023-25 seasons.

The Tragslund, Sweden-born forward secured a silver medal in the 2025 World Junior Championships with Sweden and contributed 3 points (1-2) in that campaign.
