Major announcement confirmed between the Penguins and Blackhawks involving Sidney Crosby and Connor Bedard

Bedard, just 19, is already on the verge of matching a feat accomplished by one of the greatest players of this generation.

Indeed, if he scores at least 20 goals and 60 points in 2025-26, Bedard will have opened his NHL career with three straight seasons hitting those marks, something only a few have done in recent years.

As pointed out by the NHL on X, Bedard would join none other than Pittsburgh Penguins' captain Sidney Crosby:

Bedard has done this on a rebuilding Blackhawks team that often struggles to score, making his production even more impressive. Unlike Crosby, who entered a Pittsburgh lineup with lots of talent around him, Bedard has been carrying his team.

In 150 career games, Bedard scored 45 goals and 83 assists, with a -80 plus/minus, whereas Crosby scored 75 goals and 147 assists in 160 games during his first two seasons.

While Bedard hasn't matched Crosby's point production and level of impact on the ice, reaching that impressive mark shows that he is still a great player who could accomplish big things in the League.

With the Hawks' young core set to take another step next season, Bedard could be on his way to having the best season of his career so far. Reaching Crosby's mark would be impressive, but the player's goal must be to surpass it.
