Elliotte Friedman reveals David Carle's next move after declining Chicago Blackhawks coaching offer
Top NHL analyst Elliotte Friedman is revealing what he thinks is the next step for University of Denver coach David Carle after he rejected the Chicago Blackhawks.
The Chicago Blackhawks will not be getting their man, as they were rejected by University of Denver men's ice hockey coach David Carle.
Carle, who is one of the biggest young names in coaching circles today and has been floated as a possibility to land an NHL job this summer in multiple locations, withdrew his name from consideration for the Blackhawks job.
This is especially disappointing for the Blackhawks, who had reportedly made an "aggressive pitch" to land Carle, per NHL analyst Elliotte Friedman.
In his most recent "32 Thoughts" podcast, Friedman revealed what he believes is Carle's next move - simply returning to coach at Denver for another year.
Chicago will not be without options; a notable name with ties to the Blackhawks
became available today with the termination of Mike Sullivan by the Pittsburgh Penguins.
Sullivan previously served as a player development coach with the Blackhawks; he was part of their Stanley Cup-winning team in 2014-15.
Other notable names who will be looking for employment next year include Greg Cronin, Derek Lalonde, and Drew Bannister.
The Blackhawks fired coach Luke Richardson last year after another slow start to the year and replaced him with Rockford IceHogs coach Anders Sorenson on an interim basis; he became the 1st Swedish-born head coach in NHL history.
Sorenson is also being considered by Blackhawks general manager Kyle Davidson for the full-time job, but after going 17-30-9 in 56 games, Chicago could go in a different direction.
