Dallas Stars moving on from Jason Robertson: The cost to acquire him has been revealed
The Chicago Blackhawks could use a player like Jason Robertson to add to the Hawks' top line.
Not only would he add production, missing the last two seasons, but he'd be another piece to put the team into contention in the future.
For Robertson, a pending RFA, he's in the last year of his 4-year, $7.75 million deal with the Stars. If the Stars could find a way to make a move for him, they'd find relief in their cap situation.
This could be where the Blackhawks step in: the Blackhawks have plenty of assets to make a deal work.
"Yes, the Stars did look at what a return could be on Jason Robertson; it was always gonna be either for a roster player...or...part of some other bigger move."
Of course, they'll have to give up two NHLers and a slew of draft capital in order to make the deal work:
Blackhawks acquire:
Jason Robertson
Stars acquire:
Connor MurphyLukas Reichel2026 first-round pick (Florida)
2026 second-round pick (Toronto)
2026 second-round pick (Islanders
While the price seems steep, keep in mind the Blackhawks would be getting rid of Connor Murphy, the NHLer in the deal, which the Stars are looking for.
Someone to help bolster the blue line.
While they could give Lukas Reichel a fresh start, as a former 1st-round pick, he hasn't found his next gear in Chicago.
Could Dallas be it? Last season, he scored 22 points (8-14) in 70 games with the Hawks.
While the Stars would receive a 1st-round pick and two 2nd-round picks, none of which are the Blackhawks' own.
In return, the Blackhawks would receive an 80-point winger in Jason Robertson, who could push the rebuild into the next step.
