The Chicago Blackhawks have had an extremely underwhelming year in comparison to other contenders this 2024/25 NHL season, with their re-build on the rise, you'd expect the organization to take by all means necessary to increase their abilities to contend in next seasons playoffs, however, not all player's in Chicago feel that way.

Despite the organization being in the midst of their rebuild and acquiring talent in the NHL Free Agency over the summer, their efforts did nothing to improve the team's overall fortune, leaving them to unfortunately not make the cut to appear in any postseason contention this year.
With all being said, Chicago is still in dire need to focus on their overall success in order for it to portray in the 2025/26 NHL season, yet some players don't feel it is necessary.

However Connor Bedard feels otherwise

As per NHL.com's Tracey Myers, Connor Bedard reveals he believes there is progress being made by the group, yet he wants to play a bit more freely for the remainder of the regular season.
«I know what I'm trying to do right now is not be so focused on results and just know we're young, we're trying to get better and just have fun. It's a great group of guys and we have, what, three weeks left? So just have fun, enjoy it and do the best you can. Obviously you're trying to win every game, and you want to win, but we're going to try to play the best we can,»

Bedard's responds has become quite controversial as his reaction to the franchise's circumstances seemed abnormally nonchalant.
However, the 19-year old continued to expresses his successes as well as his faults thus far into the season:
«Up to this point I feel I've had a couple little, like, 12-15 game stretches where if you look at points obviously points aren't everything, but as a guy who's supposed to produce, those stretches are what I need to get rid of,» he said, via Myers. «The rest of the year's been pretty good, I feel like. I have a lot of areas I can improve but that's exciting in a way, too, where you can be a lot better.»

Although Bedard's intentions are unknown, we can hope himself, as well as the rest of his team, takes this time as an opportunity to bounce back and prove the franchise is more than just a NHL basement team, rather than 'having fun'.
