GM Kyle Davidson and the Chicago Blackhawks have a stacked blue line, and players like Ethan Del Mastro and Artyom Levshunov could be promoted, while a total of 2 defensemen could be headed out the door in July.

The Chicago Blackhawks have a stacked blue line.
With more than enough rookies and prospects to compete for the jobs that will be available in October, they'll have to consider their goals with the veterans in the lineup.
The Blackhawks have a surplus of defensemen at 10 and will have to make a tough decision. Defensemen who played in the NHL this season include: Alex Vlasic, Sam Rinzel, Artyom Levshunov, Kevin Korchinski, Wyatt Kaiser, Connor Murphy, T.J. Brodie, Ethan Del Mastro, Nolan Allan, and Louis Crevier.
While this doesn't mean prospects and rookies are untouchable, they are the key to the team's future and will likely get a priority spot over, say, someone like T.J. Brodie.

T.J. Brodie

Given how poorly his season went with the Blackhawks this year, it's easy to assume he is on the chopping block for the Blackhawks in 2025. He was a healthy scratch for the latter part of the season and hasn't been the kind of player we've seen in the past with the Toronto Maple Leafs.
He'd only play 54 games this season, score 10 points total (2 goals, 8 assists), and he played an average TOI of 15:38 per game. 21-year-old Nolan Allan played fewer minutes and only 43 games of better hockey than Brodie this season.
Brodie will have to be shown the door through a buyout.
Fear not, while Brodie could leave the Windy City, that leaves lone veteran Connor Murphy in the lineup for the Blackhawks. But given the possibility of trading him in July, that'd leave 23-year-old Illinois native, Alex Vlasic, as the lone blue line veteran
That leaves Vlasic, Rinzel, and Levshunov as untouchables in the lineup. While Allan, Kaiser, and Korchinski could be options for a trade. But it's arguable that they should be promoted and rotated in the lineup until they stick.

Louis Crevier

Another defenseman whom the Blackhawks could explore moving is Louis Crevier. He's a former seventh-round pick and is an RFA. While he's not exactly a three-dimensional player, he offers muscle, with a small bit of offensive upside.
They could keep him if worst comes to worst, but he, like Brodie, remains an option to move off of, as the blue line is deep in talent at the moment.
