Team reporter Scott Powers wrote in his recent report that TJ Brodie isn't expected to be the only one bought out by the Chicago Blackhawks.

24hrs later, the veteran defenseman was not claimed and is now
"Brodie clearscan be bought out by the Blackhawks"

Powers originally revealed the news weeks ago in a column before it was officially announced.
Now, reports surfaced that the Chicago Blackhawks are looking at a potential buyout of Tyler Bertuzzi, who was signed to a $22M deal by Kyle Davidson previously.
The Brodie buyout will save the Blackhawks $516,667 on the cap next season, but it appears Davidson wants more, potentially for a free agents they have been linked to such as Mitch Marner.
Bertuzzi appeared to have been a very nice addition to the young Blackhawks roster but he has yet to find his footing and endured a 20-plus game goal drought this past season, which topped up his previous year's 19-game scoreless drought.
While he may seem like a solid addition for many clubs bottom-six forward lines, the Blackhawks and their youth movement is in full swing, and 30-year old Bertuzzi is soaking up a valuable roster spot.
