A latest report from prominent Chicago Blackhawks inside source, Scott Powers of The Athletic, has revealed that general manager Kyle Davidson is not renewing the contract of a 25-year old former fourth round pick and he will officially test the free agent market on July 1st.

The Blackhawks recently took care of their biggest worry of the offseason, signing free agent Ryan Donato to a $16M extension that will span across the next four years in Chicago.
Meanwhile, a decision had to be made on other pending free agents, in which the Blackhawks have several at the moment in need of new contracts.
Louis Crevier, Wyatt Kaiser, Arvid Soderblom, Philipp Kurashev and several others are pending free agents, and we now know who the odd one out is thanks to Scott Powers.

Philipp Kurashev will not receive offer from the Blackhawks, will test free agency

After a very underperforming year with the Blackhawks that included a substantial hand injury suffered, the 25-year old former fourth round pick will officially be a free agent come July 1st.
In what seemed to be a promising young center for the Blackhawks after his 54-point 2023-24 season, the expectations have quickly dropped, and so has his production.
Kurashev was granted several opportunities on the teams top line alongside Connor Bedard in the 2024-25 NHL season and only managed to tally up 14 points (7 goals, 7 assists).
As for the team's pending restricted free agents, the Blackhawks are expected to qualify Louis Crevier, Wyatt Kaiser and Arvid Söderblom and are not expected to qualify the others, including, most notably, Philipp Kurashev.

A once 120th overall selection by the Blackhawks will now test the free agent market in hopes to finding another home, or look to head home to Switzerland, to pursue his pro hockey career.
