Connor Bedard was drafted 1st overall in 2023 by GM Kyle Davidson, and with a recent viral video of him in the penalty box, fans were beginning to wonder if he loved the Chicago Blackhawks, even with friends like Nick Foligno in the lineup.
The
Chicago Blackhawks' season has ended. At 8th in the Central Division, with a record of 25-46-11,
Connor Bedard could be legitimately frustrated wth the team.
In a recent viral video, we see him in the penalty box after receiving a game misconduct, where he looked sullen. Fans were concerned about his future status with the Blackhawks after this season.
Connor Bedard's name would be spoken by NHL pundits urging him to reconsider signing with the Blackhawks again until they have the right pieces to surround him with.
And now,
Bedard took to the media to address concerns about himself and Chicago. Fans should ease their minds as Bedard has set them straight.
It appears he has no plans of leaving Chicago, and with a mentor like Nick Foligno in the city to help him out, he's found his second home away from Vancouver, BC.
The sophomore Blackhawks player has topped his totals from 2023-2024, scoring a total of 67 points (23 goals, 44 assists) just a year after winning the Calder Trophy.
Bedard's contract with the Blackhawks will expire after the 2025-2026 NHL season, as an RFA.
Connor Bedard currently makes $950K a year, and his contract expires at the end of 2025-2026, but on July 1st GM Kyle Davidson and the Chicago Blackhawks can start negotiation an extension.
